Map data and the ODbL licence
The road shapes and places along the way in the RoamRise catalogue are based on OpenStreetMap, the open map built by volunteers. OpenStreetMap data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0.
What we use from OpenStreetMap
- the shapes of the road sections in the catalogue and in the route drawings,
- places along the way (passes, viewpoints, car parks and similar) and their names,
- road properties we use to compute length, curvature and the drive-time estimate.
We credit this next to every route as “© OpenStreetMap contributors”, linking here. For OpenStreetMap's copyright details see openstreetmap.org/copyright.
The ODbL licence
The RoamRise road catalogue is a database derived from OpenStreetMap. We therefore share that derived database under the same licence, the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. You may use, adapt and share it as long as you credit the source and share derived data under the same licence.
How to get the data
On request we send you an export of the derived database: the geometry of the road sections and places taken from OpenStreetMap, their OpenStreetMap identifiers and the values we computed from them. GeoJSON, ODbL 1.0, free of charge. Email [email protected].
Road descriptions and photos are not part of the export. They have their own authors and licences; for photos we credit them next to the image and on the photo and data credits page.
Found a mistake in the map?
If a road's shape or a place is wrong, please fix it in OpenStreetMap itself: that helps everyone. Report problems with our catalogue (a closure, an inappropriate description) through the report form.
